Birth plan
A birth plan is a record of your wishes regarding labour and birth.
Writing this plan is often seen as an important step in preparing for delivery. Write down your priorities, ideas and wishes.
The aim of the birth plan is to let your care provider know what you want so this can be achieved as best as possible.

Hand your birth plan to your midwife during one of your checkups.
Examples of questions you can ask yourself:
- Where would you like to give birth?
- Who would you like to be present to guide you?
- Which labour and birthing positions are you considering?
- What pain relief would you like?
- Would you like to take pictures or film the birth itself or right after?
- Would you like to use a mirror so you can watch yourself push?
- How would you like your baby to be handled right after birth?
- Would you always like to be informed of everything, or would you like to keep this at a minimum?
