Blood examination
During pregnancy blood will be tested twice. At the start of the pregnancy, your blood will be examined in a laboratory. Your blood group, rhesus factor, specific antibodies, syphilis, hepatitis B, HIV, haemoglobin (iron levels) and glucose (sugar levels) will be determined.
Around 30 weeks of pregnancy we will check haemoglobin levels again. This is normal to drop during pregnancy, but should not drop too low.
Your midwife will indicate whether any additional blood tests are needed.
When you have your blood tested, you will receive a request form for Diagnostiek voor U. You do not need to make an appointment for a blood test and you can go to all blood sampling locations in and around Eindhoven.
